Labs face unique challenges in 2024, we’ll do our part to keep your lab running strong.

Because we're in the field servicing lab gas generators every day, we’ve heard about the challenges lab managers are facing in 2024, and how those issues will impact productivity and efficiency.

Rapid advances in technology cause substantial investments in infrastructure, staff training, and cybersecurity to safeguard sensitive data and ensure compliance with increasing regulatory standards.

The global health crisis, coupled with supply chain disruptions has strained lab resources. Labs must adapt workflows to accommodate increased testing volumes while maintaining high levels of precision and quality.

FDA’s “LDT Proposed Rule’s” impact on the laboratory testing industry if finalized. The FDA’s plans to formally classify LDTs as medical devices will subject these tests to extensive reviews and compliance requirements. Even if the rule is not finalized, federal healthcare programs and private payors may use its assertion of FDA authority over LDTs to refuse payment for tests.

The evolving regulatory landscape requires compliance with changing regulations and standards, such as those related to data privacy and laboratory accreditation. Investment in continuous training and staff education adds an additional strain on labs.

Workforce shortages and staff burnout pose a significant hurdle. In the current low unemployment environment, recruiting and retaining skilled laboratory professionals means it’s challenging to maintain a reliable staff to address higher throughput.

The increasing chance of downtime. The growing complexity of laboratory equipment and technology can lead to higher rates of malfunction and breakdown, particularly as labs become more reliant on interconnected systems and data-driven processes.
